Lake Wenatchee Fire and Rescue is pleased to announce the selection of Kay Cope to join our team as the new Administrative Coordinator. Kay is currently the Chief Financial Officer for South Whidbey Fire and Rescue and and previously served as the Secretary to the Board of Commissioners and Office Manager for North Whidbey Fire and Rescue. Kay is currently pursuing her degree in Public Administration at Liberty University and is active at her local church. Kay and her husband Steve have a 5 year old son starting kindergarten this Fall, a chocolate lab and a cat (yet to be identified). Steve is a former firefighter and is currently working for Whidbey General Hospital as an EMT (can anyone say future not former firefighter?). During her interview Kay expressed her desires to not only serve the members of our agency but the community as well. She is excited to begin work here with a District that is so closely tied to their community. We thought her enthusiasm and positive attitude would be the perfect fit for our "unique" organization.

Welcome Home Cope Family.

Earlier Saturday LWFR, Chelan FD #3, WA DNR, USFS and the Washington State Patrol responded to a small brush fire at MP 89 on US Highway 2. The fire was controlled and extinguished at approx 1/2 an acre. The cause is under investigation but likely related to the traveling public on US 2.
